KNOWLEDGE SHARING DAY FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

The Zambia Federation of Women in Business held a two day conference for Women in Business from 26 to 27 September 2007 at Holiday Inn. The purpose of the conference was to celebrate the “Month of the Woman Entrepreneur 2007”. In addition to the celebration, the conference sought to empower its members with useful information from various institutions on how they could enhance their business operations.

Among the institutions represented were government regulatory bodies, business associations, and financial institutions that cater for the needs of the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in Zambia. PACRO was invited to give a presentation on how to formalize a business through registration and meeting the post registration obligations in accordance with the law. The conference drew delegates from every province of Zambia.

During the knowledge sharing session held on 26 September 2007, PACRO representative Ms. Kachenga Chisupa presented a paper entitled “Formalising Your Business Registration”. In this paper, Ms. Chisupa shared information on how to register a business, the types of business registrations available, and how to keep a business compliant with the law by filing post-registration requirements in accordance with the law.

The second day, 27 September 2007, was an Exhibition Day. PACRO continued to educate the delegates on the process of registration and post-registration obligations. Delegates were shown the various forms required for every process and how to fill them in. The fees required for each process were explained.

The conference was quite beneficial to all the delegates. PACRO on its part was able to get a feel of the situation among Women Entrepreneurs. The businesswomen were empowered with the knowledge on how they could make their operations better both financially and legally.
