HOW TO REGISTER A BUSINESS NAME

Registration of Business Names in Zambia is governed by the Registration of Business Names Act Cap. 389 of the Laws of Zambia. Click here to view the Act. The particular form to be used  in applying for registration of a Business Name depends on whether the applicant is an individual,  a group of individuals or a body corporate:-

1.Sole ProprietorshipBN Form III
2.PartnershipBN Form II
3.Body corporate BN Form II & Form I 
4.Entities not registered with PACRO BN Form II & Form IX

Fees applicable to Business Names

Registration fees for Business Names are as follows:-

1.Sole ProprietorshipK80,000
2.PartnershipK80,000
3.Body corporate K105,000
4.Entities not registered with PACRO K105,000

The sealing and issuing of the Certificate of registration marks the end of the process for registration of a business. However, if the proposed name of the business is rejected on approval stage, the client is requested to collect the name clearance forms and pay a name search fee of K25,000. The process of name clearance as stipulated above is once again followed.
