GOING
AN EXTRA MILE
There
are many times that we have heard the phrase ‘Going an extra mile’ or in
simple terms in which we will understand better, ‘Let’s Die a Little for
Mother Zambia’. In sport, we have heard it more frequently. But I would
us to focus on going an extra mile for PACRO or as PACRO. The assumption
here is that we have all put in the best in as far as work is
concerned. The going an extra mile comes in where you as an individual
or as PACRO you do an extraordinary thing meant to improve work
performance.
Find
Rewards and Recognition
We all
need to feel recognized and rewarded for what we do. If your job doesn’t
have built-in opportunities for recognition, or if rewards are
infrequent, you may need to add rewards and recognition to your own
life. You may decide to take yourself to a movie,
buy yourself something nice, or give yourself other small but
nurturing rewards when you complete a project or complete another month
of hard work. These things can nurture you emotionally and remind you of
the importance of the work you do. In so doing you will be going an
extra mile for PACRO but of course for your own good.
Customer service centre
Management is highly commended for ensuring that the Customer service
centre is now more conducive to doing business as it has now more space.
There are a number of times that I have overhead customers saying ‘ Wish
there was a food point here’. This normally comes when it is lunch hour
and by then we are closed to the public and they have to wait until 2 in
the afternoon. I am not agitating for a restaurant but merely that as
pacro we go an extra mile in ensuring that our customers are comfortable
even as they wait to be attended to. This we can achieve by just placing
a public water dispenser in here so that just a glass of cool water will
quench both the thirst and the emotions of the customers. Let’s go an
extra mile by only giving water to the customers.
Maintain
a Balanced Lifestyle
Keeping balance in your lifestyle is important; if it’s all work and no
play, you may find your ability to work beginning to go down. In order
to maintain balance in your lifestyle, the first step is to take an
overview of your current lifestyle and see which areas are out of
balance. Do you have enough time for
relationships,
hobbies,
sleep,
self care,
exercise,
healthy eating, in addition to your work responsibilities? If not,
the next step is to look at your priorities and make some changes so
that your lifestyle reflects them better.
Let’s all therefore in one way or another, either for PACRO or as PACRO,
go a little mile for our customers’ sake and indeed for our own good.
See you at Barclays sports complex for a workout next week.
