DEVELOPING AN ALL ROUND SUCCESS CENTERED ON DISCIPLINE

Success is a product of discipline that is more concerned with incentives at your disposal than imperatives. There is a general rule that says “the most important ingredient in one’s lifetime is discipline, with it you can achieve everything without it you struggle to exist”.

(1)       Discipline is training that produces obedience

Obedience to self is cardinal if you are to achieve goals that you have set for yourself. It is an aspect of being honest with self and maintaining integrity.

Be obedient to self and you will avoid self disappointment and condemnation.

(2)       Discipline is training that produces self control
Self control evolves around the notion of choices. It is an art of opting for best than the good through self restraint.
You have the right to choose what you desire to achieve.

(3)       Discipline is training that produces particular skills
Skills are developed after long hours of repeated or persistent and at times strenuous training.
No matter how hard or difficult your task may be, persist and you will acquire or develop unique skills needed to perform it.

(4)       Discipline is training that molds
Molding is a mental as well as physical building process. Discipline will help you build a working culture and overcome complacence depending on what you are feed your mind. Have nothing to do with laziness. It is said “people who do not have anything to do want to do it with you”
. Do not let people involve you in their habits of time wasting.

(5)       Discipline is training that perfects
Perfection comes as a result of setting your priorities and adhering to them. It is an art of organizing your life and everything that concerns you in a given timeline.
Set you priorities before you embark on today’s work. Before I end my presentation allow me to quote from a book entitled ‘The Twenty Five Hour Woman’ written by Sybil Stanton and I quote, “Discipline isn’t on your back needling you with imperatives. It is at your side encouraging you with incentives”. Meaning discipline is not supposed to be needling, frustrating or teasing but must be favourable for achieving results.

Thank you for listening.
